Water Our Seeds

In 2008, founder Lynn returned from a Twin Cities Church mission trip to Uganda, Africa. After working with El Shaddai World Ministries, she was (and still is) on fire to help the women and children of Uganda. Her field of expertise is senior care, particularly Hospice care, and she was blessed on her second trip in 2009 to be able to join Jinja Hospice as they traveled the back roads of the Bugembe District assessing and helping these desperate people.

A vision was born there in a small hut in the slums of Bugembe, watching a daughter as she lovingly cared for her dying mother. “There has to be a way for us back home to help these caregivers.” After returning to the States and meeting with her business partner, Lucinda, the idea (seed) of our life’s mission work was planted.

This seed has been nourished, loved, and cultivated until our business became an established Christian network of independent caregivers, matched with clients that we actively seek for them. What does this have to do with Africa? The opening of our formal office was the first, albeit small, step for the overall ministry concept we’ve seen come to fruition: AMAH’s Heart Ministries. “Empowerment thru Education” is our motto and we constantly strive to achieve this goal.

Our desire is to begin assisting the “HEART” organization (Health Education Africa Resource Team) in building WEEP (Women’s Equality and Empowerment Project) centers in Kenya, the Hospice organizations of Africa and Nevada County, and the women of Mama’s Heart in Uganda. Our hearts are with the caregivers of Nevada County as well, as we feel God’s plan and desire for us is to be able to develop centers here and in Africa where women are taught a skill, learn to make a living, support their families, and then go out into their community as a living testament to the God who has provided for them. This is NOT about us or them- it’s about the way we, as owners of this business, feel we can best serve our God to bring Him glory- using the gifts He so graciously bestowed.

The prayer of Jabez (1 Chron 4:10) has never been more relevant for us: “Oh that You would bless us indeed, enlarge our territories, that Your hand would be with us and that you would keep us from evil.” Bless us, indeed! Expand our frontiers Lord! Help others to feel the excitement as we go out into the world and teach of your awesome provision and serve with the gifts you have so graciously given us.
